It believes that a nation’s or an individual’s character traits and future can be predicted with the help of the placement of the planets, the sun, the moon and the nakshatra (star) vis-à-vis the time and place of birth.

Vaasthu

This study impresses on the way in which any type of construction including residential houses should be designed and built for the health, wealth and overall prosperity of the inmates.

Palmistry

It is the art of telling about the nature and foretelling the events of an individual’s life by studying the shape of the hand, the fingers, the nails, the mounts, the major and minor lines and signs on the palm.

Numerology

It correlates certain aspects and incidents of an individua's life to numbers and is expected to predict future on the basis of numbers.

Face reading

It is the study of the forehead, eye-brows, eyes, ears, mouth, lips, cheeks and chin. Also known as Physiognomy, this study believes that the formation of these features reveals one’s nature and characteristics, strengths and weaknesses.

Nadi Shastra

It involves collection of finger prints (of persons) which are classified into 108 groups depending upon the arrangement of dots present within the lines of the finger prints. Once the fingerprint of a person is identified in a particular, already existing, ancient Talapatra (manuscript) it is analysed to reveal the past, present and future of the person’s life.

Tarot reading

It uses a set of 78 cards together with principles of astrology, numerology, semiotics and the occult to predict the future of the individuals.

Crystal Gazing

This practice believes that when a person gazes into a crystal with concentration symbolical vision or pictures related to thoughts, feelings and ideas appear which could be interpreted in a way that the portent information is meant to convey. This practice is also supposed to make a person clairvoyant (possessing the ability to perceive objects or events which are beyond the known reach of senses).

Soothsayer's Practice

A practice that tells about the past, the present conditions and also predicts the future of an individual. This is done by face-reading and reading the palm, touching and moving on it with a thin stick in a soothing manner.

Graphology

Study of a person’s character and accomplishments through the medium of his/her hand writing. The study of general style of handwriting, the formation of letters, alignment and other features make it possible to form an idea of the character and general condition and temperament as also the profession of the person.

Gemmology

The influence of the heavenly bodies over human fortunes and overall well-being is believed to be strengthened by wearing the gem and (precious and semi - precious) stones appropriate to certain planets or moon/sun signs. 

Water divining

Is a process of searching for and predicting the availability of underground water by holding a stick or rod which dips/turns abruptly, when over the right spot.

Parrot foretelling

The practice of revealing the past, present and future of an individual based on the writings on a set of cards which are picked up by a trained and caged parrot.

Superstitions

Practices or beliefs based on an apparently irrational fear of the ‘unknown’ or the mysterious. It is mainly culture-centric.

Black Magic

Magic that is believed to be performed by using the power of the devil for evil purposes.

Witchcraft

The practice of doing harm to others through a type of magic, by a woman who is supposed to have dealings with devil or evil spirits.

Exorcism

A process during which a person forces evil spirits to leave a place or one’s body by using special words, utterances and ceremonies.

 Hypnotism

The practice of putting person/s to a sleep-like state in which his/her thoughts and behaviour are influenced by the suggestions of the hypnotist.
