Ayurveda

In Ayurveda classification of diseases and management of patients is done according to prognosis. Disease is understood as an imbalance in the tridoshas: nervous energy (vata), body heat energy (pitta), and nutritive energy (kapha). Preparations of herbs, minerals and animal parts   are used as medicines to eliminate excesses and overcome deficiencies.

Siddha

Based largely on ayurvedic concepts, it believes that human body is a combination of five Universal elements: mann(earth), neer(water), thee(fire), vayu(air). vin(sky). These elements regulate the three ‘kutrams’ (doshas) in relation to the six suvai (tastes) and two veeriyas (potency). They co-ordinate the activities of the seven body thatus (dhatus). The maintenance of the human body is regulated by the 96 ‘tathvams’ which contribute to the well-being of man. The use of metals and minerals in medicines is predominant in this system.
